If you’ve had severe reactions and responses to betrayal, you’re not crazy. And you’re not alone and you can heal from all of it.

I want you to know how serious it is. This is an excerpt from my book Trust Again: Overcoming Betrayal and Regaining Health, Confidence and Happiness.

Fear rejection, sadness, depression, anxiety, shock, anger, repression, numbing and denial are just a few of the feelings that can emerge as a result of betrayal. Depending on the severity of betrayal and our own emotional reaction to it. We can experience symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). We can be triggered by a thought, memory, person, place or event that brings us right back to our pain. When this occurs, we’re not just thinking about the betrayal, we respond and react as if we’re experiencing all over again.

This is so true. With PTSD, you’re triggered. And, yes, you know, it didn’t just happen, but tell that to your body because your body is reacting and responding as if it just happened.

I’m bringing this up because I know so many people just minimize it. Just say, “Oh, we’ll just get over it already.” “It’s no big deal.” Yes, it is. Tell that to your body. What happens is it affects us physically. mentally, emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually – and it all has to be healed. And that’s why you can go to the most well-meaning therapists. That’s wonderful but if they’re not highly skilled in betrayal, it does more harm than good. Second, that’s only helping on one level. You may have heard “the issues you were in the tissues.” Yes, they are. That has to be healed. too. It has it has to be healed on so many levels.

I talk about The Five Stages from Betrayal to Breakthrough which was one of the three discoveries made during my PhD study. Trust Again is actually a reader friendly version of what was found with about 250 studies cited so it’s a deep dive into betrayal and how to heal from it.

There’s so much about betrayal that that you need to know. Most importantly, know that you’re not crazy. You’re not alone, and you can heal from all of it. We’re taking this on during the 5 day Trust Again Intensive where for 5 days, we’ll get to the root of where trust was shattered and you’ll learn the steps how to heal it once and for all.

This is also all we do within The PBT (Post Betrayal Transformation) Institute. But if you want to dip your toe in the water, at least join us for the Trust Again Intensive so you can take the first steps to feeling safe again, loving again, trusting again.
