While she was in medical school, Catherine was diagnosed with and healed from an autoimmune disease that affects the gastrointestinal tract. This experience left her with a passion to promote gut health and psycho-neuroimmune balance in children everywhere.
On today’s episode, Catherine will share how self-betrayal manifests its physical symptoms and why it is so crucial to pay attention to what your body is saying.
“Listen to the body, listen to the signs. It’s always telling us something. It’s always on our side.” [4:06]
“We talk so much about trauma, these days, and how it can increase inflammation and increase our chances for autoimmune diseases and chronic inflammation and chronic disease. It doesn’t have to be those big Ts, it can be something like I’m describing, you know, it doesn’t have to be these huge losses or these big, big T Traumas, right? It can be the little t traumas that go unresolved.” [9:37]
“Are you okay physically? And if so, let’s look at what else might be happening and sometimes it’s a great reminder, you know? It was that protective mom on my shoulder giving me some anxious feelings because I hadn’t gotten enough sleep, I hadn’t attended to my physical body.” [12:04]
“A huge part of healing is to have a trusted practitioner that you feel safe with. That’s where the healing begins.” [22:26]
